Established in 1980 the Keel Row Bookshop is located in an eight roomed Georgian townhouse in a conservation area of historic North Shields. Anthony Smithson, the third and current owner, started bookselling nearly twenty years ago and bought the premises in May 2006. Since then the shop has been completely renovated and the shop fully restocked.
We are a family run firm selling a broad range of Antiquarian, collectible and second-hand books to suit every pocket. Our stock has a strong emphasis on North Eastern topography and history, particularly Northumberland, as well as the history of Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland. We also try to maintain a healthy stock of the works of Thomas Bewick and his pupils as well as the Newcastle author and wood engraver Joseph Crawhall.
