Credit Card Security - Chargebacks
Members are also reminded that customers have up to six months after a transaction to make a "chargeback". A chargeback is a transaction for which the Merchant Service Provider is unable to pay you, or one where you may have initially have received payment but the transaction is subsequently rejected by the cardholder and debited back to you. Fraudsters often use late chargebacks and there is very little protection offered by Merchant Service Providers. Records should be kept for at least six months so that you can produce evidence when disputes arise after genuine transactions.
