ABA Logo – registration as a Trademark

On 21st November 2003 the ABA Logo became a Trademark. It was registered as a Collective Mark ("distinguishing the goods or services of the members of the Association from those of other undertakings") in respect of: Printed matter; antiquarian books, manuscripts, autograph letters, photographs, maps and graphics, music and prints. This registration accompanied the change in status of the ABA on 1st January 2004 to become a Company Limited by Guarantee, Without a Share Capital (Company No. 4817629). Rule 7a describes the privileges associated with the use of the logo; and the Association could in theory sue any non-member who was using the logo.
