ABA-IES Seminar: Student Bibliophiles

 09/01/2018 – 09/01/2018 Harriet Rix (University of Cambridge) and Dr. Geri della Rocca de Candal (University of Oxford): Student Bibliophiles at Oxford and Cambridge: a new generation of book collectors. The panel will explore the recent history of the Oxford Bibliophiles, originally active between 1950-2000, then restored in 2008, and of the Cambridge Bibliophiles, founded in early 2015. Over the past few years both Societies have often represented the first point of contact for young book collectors.  From 6 PM to 8 PM in Senate House Room 246.

ALAI: Salone della Cultura Milano

 20/01/2018 – 21/01/2018 The first Salone de la Cultura was held in January 2017 in Milan with further salons throughout the year, attracting over 35,000 visitors to each event, an exceptional result! An event which aims to involve readers, collectors, bibliophiles and “seekers of paper treasurers” in a common celebration of book culture; uniting the different worlds of the book: publishers, antiquarian booksellers and collectors. 
In 2018, the Italian Antiquarian Booksellers' Association ALAI (affiliated to ILAB) will become part of the Salon with a dedicated section. 
Organisers of the Salon are two-well-established names in the Italian book world: Matteo Luteriani, publisher of Luni Editriceand Sergio Malavasi of Maremagnum.com . The Salon takes place in one of the most trendy areas in Milan: Superstudio Più.

The 32nd Antiquaria Ludwigsburg

 25/01/2018 – 27/01/2018 The 32nd Antiquaria Ludwigsburg, which can be reached within 10 minutes from Stuttgart, invites booklovers from Germany and abroad. Over 50 exhibitors offer beautiful and extraordinary books, prints, autographs and ephemera. 
Coinciding with the 300 year anniversary of Ludwigsburg as a mentioned city in the city archives, the organisers have chosen the interesting theme "Antiquaria Urbana - The City" for the 2018 fair.

Stuttgart Antiquarian Book Fair

The first event of the bibliophile year: For years the Stuttgart Antiquarian Book Fair has attracted dealers and collectors from all over the world to the elegant "Kunstverein" in the heart of Stuttgart. Exhibitors from Germany, Great Britain, the United States, Switzerland, Austria, France and the Netherlands show rare and valuable medieval manuscripts, books, autographs, and modern prints.

NEW IN 2018: An auction will be held in the late afternoon of the opening day, 26 January 2018. Exhibitors can include one object in their mandatory book fair catalogue contribution which will be highlighted, reserved and marked as a contribution to this auction. The auction will be held by one of the participating auction houses. Starting price is the price shown in the fair catalogue, there will be no premium. The auction will held by order and for account of the consignee.
